Well, spring shot by, hurried right onto a blazing hot summer and now has started to slip quietly into fall and hurricane season. Ah, the joys of tropical life.
THE HEALING SPRING (the first book in the Hawks Mountain series) is done and winging its way electronically to the editor at Belle Books. I so enjoyed writing a book that didn’t include burning up buildings, endangering anyone’s life and hauling a nasty villain off to the hoosegow for a change.
THE HEALING SPRING (still only a working title at present) is a sweet romance set in a small West Virginia town. Since I grew up in a small town and then, after marrying my husband, moved to another one seven miles away, I am well acquainted with the good and bad of a place like Carson, West Virginia. And I must admit that most of it is good. People know everyone and care about their neighbors. Yes, some are nosey beyond just the caring, but they too are a part of the color in a small town. I sincerely hope I managed to capture the special closeness and exceptional color of small-town life.
Now, it’s on to the next in the Hawks Mountain series, SUMMER ROSE. This one involves animals, lots and lots of animals. Being a huge animal lover, I’m going to love writing this book, even though I’ll have a lot of research to do to make sure all the animals are depicted true to their species.
Until next month . . . .
Have a safe and happy Labor Day and stay cool!
